Chef Point Cafe – Colleyville, Texas

Chef Franson Nwaeze opened Chef Point Cafe inside a car wash in Watauga, Texas — a detail that made it exactly the kind of place Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives was built to find. The “funky joint” framing was literal: a fine dining kitchen operating inside a functioning car wash, producing upscale comfort food and seafood dishes that had no business being that good given the setting. It appeared in Season 6, Episode 1 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Funky Joints,” which aired April 6, 2009. Guy Fieri found a chef with serious culinary training executing dishes well above the car wash surroundings: lobster bisque, crab-stuffed shrimp, and a menu that belonged in a white-tablecloth restaurant. The original Watauga location closed in January 2023. Chef Point Cafe continues operating at its current Colleyville, Texas location.
