Andre Guerrero opened The Oinkster in 2006 in Eagle Rock in a former Der Wienerschnitzel building, aiming to bring slow-food sensibility to fast-food formats: house-cured pastrami, pulled pork slow-smoked for 14 hours, Belgian-style fries cooked twice, and shakes made with Fosselman’s ice cream. It appeared in Season 8, Episode 3 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Stacked, Stuffed and Loaded,” which aired January 18, 2010. Guy Fieri called the pastrami “off the hook” and was a fan of the pulled pork sandwich and the Belgian fries. The Oinkster has since expanded and become a Los Angeles institution.
