Oohh’s and Aahh’s on U Street NW has been serving soul food in one of Washington D.C.’s most historically significant corridors since Oji and Ayo Abbott opened it, building a menu around the Southern comfort food traditions that the U Street community has always known. The neighborhood — once known as Black Broadway for its concentration of African American culture, music, and commerce — is the right home for a restaurant that takes its soul food seriously.
