The Dor-Stop Restaurant sits on a corner of Potomac Avenue in Dormont, a borough just south of Pittsburgh on the other side of the Liberty Tunnels, and Bob and Vicki Lawhorne have been running it as a family operation for over 25 years. It appeared in Season 5, Episode 1 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “What’s For Breakfast,” which aired November 10, 2008. Guy Fieri found pumpkin hotcakes, raspberry stuffed French toast, and the Jumbot — a scramble of eggs, sausage, green bell peppers, and anything else you want — served in portions that arrive on trays rather than plates. He called the hotcakes something he could eat every morning. People have been driving from Ohio and across Pennsylvania to test that theory ever since. The Dor-Stop is the definition of a “diner lover’s dream.”

About Dor-Stop Restaurant
The Dor-Stop is a small diner on a spacious, airy corner with counter seating, booths, and limited outdoor seating. The kitchen runs entirely on scratch preparation: batter made fresh, French toast stuffed to order, hotcakes that are a heavier, denser, more satisfying version of a pancake. Vicki Lawhorne has been known to get flour on visiting TV hosts. The guest book for out-of-town visitors has accumulated signatures from people who drove specifically because of the Triple D episode, which tells you something about how the hotcakes travel by reputation.
What to Eat at Dor-Stop Restaurant
The Pumpkin Hotcakes are the signature: thick, dense, warmly spiced, served with butter and syrup, and nothing like a standard pancake. The Raspberry Stuffed French Toast is the sweet option that most regulars say is the second reason they came back. The Breakfast Jumbot — scrambled eggs with sausage, green peppers, and your choice of additions — is the savory centerpiece that Guy highlighted during filming. The Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Pancakes earned specific DDD mention. The Meatloaf Melt Sandwich with Potato Pancakes is the lunch standout.
For your own scratch breakfast kitchen, Guy Fieri Cookware handles griddle work beautifully, and Guy Fieri’s Kitchen Textiles outfit the morning cook properly.
