Country Cat Dinnerhouse & Bar – Portland, Oregon

Country Cat Dinnerhouse and Bar on Southeast Stark Street in Portland’s Montavilla neighborhood was one of the city’s most celebrated American comfort food restaurants from the time Adam Sappington opened it in 2007, building a menu around whole-animal butchery, scratch-made comfort food, and the farm-to-table Pacific Northwest ingredient sourcing that earned it a James Beard Award nomination and a national food media reputation. It appeared in Season 18, Episode 2 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Meat Lover’s Paradise,” which aired September 2, 2013. Guy Fieri found a Portland kitchen doing whole-animal butchery and Southern-influenced comfort food with the quality and craft that set it apart from every other restaurant in the city. The original Southeast Stark Street location closed in 2019.
