Senate on Vine Street in Cincinnati’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood has been one of the city’s most celebrated pub and gourmet hot dog destinations since it opened, building a menu around creative, over-the-top hot dog builds that take the humble street food format and apply the same quality ingredients and creative thinking that a serious restaurant kitchen brings to any other dish. It appeared in Season 21, Episode 6 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “One Street Wonders,” which aired October 10, 2014. Guy Fieri found a Cincinnati pub kitchen doing gourmet hot dogs from scratch with the quality and creative energy that earns a neighborhood restaurant its destination reputation in a city that has developed one of the most interesting independent restaurant scenes in the Midwest.

What to Eat
The Poutine Dog — a quality all-beef hot dog topped with cheese curds and house-made gravy in the Canadian poutine tradition applied to the hot dog format — is the creative crossover that most regulars consider the best thing on the menu. The Mac and Cheese Dog with house-made mac and cheese piled on top is the comfort food hybrid that earns its own devoted following. The Craft Beer Selection with a Cincinnati and regional Ohio emphasis is as carefully curated as the hot dog menu. Find a Cincinnati hotel on Trivago.
