Jimtown Store on CA-128 in the Alexander Valley has been a Wine Country roadside institution since Carrie Brown and John Werner restored it in 1991, transforming a dilapidated general store dating to 1895 into a beloved cafe, sandwich shop, and artisan market. It appeared in Season 11, Episode 13 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Porktastic,” which aired April 11, 2011. Guy Fieri found a Sonoma County kitchen building creative, generously stuffed sandwiches from house-made components — fig and olive spreads, roasted meats, artisan cheeses — in a setting that has made Jimtown a mandatory stop on any Alexander Valley wine tasting itinerary. The store has since undergone ownership changes and now operates as Jimtown and then Sum, continuing the artisan market and cafe tradition on the same property.
