Big Mama’s Kitchen and Catering in Omaha was founded by Patricia Barron, known to everyone as Big Mama, and built around the soul food recipes she grew up cooking and the belief that food is how you take care of people. The restaurant appeared in Season 4, Episode 10 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Cookin’ It Old School,” which aired October 6, 2008, at its original 45th Street location, and Guy Fieri found a kitchen producing honest Midwestern soul food with the kind of from-scratch discipline that earns a DDD segment. The restaurant has since relocated to 2112 N. 30th Street, Suite 201 in Omaha, where it continues to operate.
