Comet Cafe on North Farwell Avenue in Milwaukee’s East Side neighborhood has been a neighborhood comfort food institution since it opened, serving the kind of scratch-made diner food — mac and cheese, meatloaf, chicken pot pie, and the kind of American comfort classics that the East Side’s mix of students, artists, and longtime Milwaukee residents all agree on — in a setting that is part diner, part dive bar, and entirely neighborhood.
