The restoration converted the gas station into a full-service diner without erasing the Art Deco bones of the original structure: the porcelain enamel panels, the canopy, the period detailing. It appeared in Season 5, Episode 9 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Return to Route 66,” which aired February 2, 2009. Guy Fieri found a kitchen operating well above standard diner expectations, with a green chile macaroni and cheese and scratch-made comfort food that used the Route 66 diner format as a starting point rather than a limitation.
