Little Jewel of New Orleans on Ord Street in Los Angeles’s Chinatown neighborhood has been bringing the po-boys, muffulettas, and the New Orleans deli and Cajun-Creole cooking traditions to a city that had very little access to genuine New Orleans food since it opened, earning a devoted following among the Los Angeles Louisiana expatriate community and the adventurous eaters who discovered it and couldn’t believe how authentic it tasted in a Chinese neighborhood in East LA. It appeared in Season 22, Episode 13 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Intercontinental Flavorfest,” which aired June 5, 2015. The Shrimp Po-Boy on New Orleans French bread fully dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and remoulade is the New Orleans sandwich classic that earns Little Jewel its Los Angeles reputation.
