Most steakhouses are just steakhouses. Alpine Steakhouse in Sarasota, Florida is a steakhouse, a butcher shop, a specialty grocery, a German deli, and the place that introduced Guy Fieri to the Turducken — a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey, twelve hours in the oven, and one of the most elaborate things ever served at a place that also sells prime dry-aged beef by the pound out front. It appeared in Season 2, Episode 7 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives — “Talkin’ Turkey,” aired November 10, 2007 — and Guy liked it so much he came back and featured it on Best Thing I Ever Ate. That double appearance says everything.

About Alpine Steakhouse
Alpine Steakhouse has been operating since 1975, built around a father-son team commitment to scratch cooking and quality sourcing. The father-son team of Mark and Matt Rebhan runs the operation, and the philosophy is simple: virtually nothing comes out of a box or shrink-wrapped. Everything is made from scratch — including the wiener schnitzel, the sauerbraten, the bratwurst, the crab cakes, and the apple strudel that rounds out what is genuinely one of the more unusual menus in Florida.
The butcher shop side of the operation is the part that sets Alpine apart from every other steakhouse in the state. Prime dry-aged midwestern beef, cut to order, available to take home alongside your dinner. More than 60 imported beers. Traditional German specialties alongside Japanese Kobe burgers and Philly cheesesteaks. It is not a restaurant with a clear lane, which is exactly what makes it worth the stop.
What to Eat at Alpine Steakhouse
The Turducken is the dish that put Alpine on the national map — andouille sausage, duck, chicken, and more layered inside a turkey and roasted for twelve hours. Guy called it the king of all birds on Best Thing I Ever Ate. It takes advance planning and is worth every minute of the wait.
Beyond the Turducken, the Prime Dry-Aged Steaks are the everyday anchor of the menu. The Wiener Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, and Homemade Apple Strudel represent the German deli side. The Kobe Burger and the New York Reuben cover the diner territory. The Crab Cakes have their own following.
For backyard grillers inspired by what Alpine is doing with beef, Guy on Fire: 130 Recipes for Adventures in Outdoor Cooking is the book to have on hand. And Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Dry Rub Variety Pack covers the seasoning side.
