11th Street Diner – Miami Beach, Florida

The 11th Street Diner started its life in 1948 when the Paramount Dining Car Company of Haledon, New Jersey built an Art Deco aluminum-sided diner and shipped it to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. It operated there for 44 years before being dismantled, transported to Miami Beach, and reassembled in the heart of the South Beach Art Deco District, where it reopened on September 11, 1992. An original 1948 dining car sitting in a neighborhood famous for its 1930s and 1940s architectural preservation is exactly as perfect a fit as it sounds. It appeared in Season 3, Episode 7 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives — “American Classics,” aired May 12, 2008 — with guest star Rosie O’Donnell. Guy Fieri called the apple-raisin pork chops “one of the best pork dishes ever.” That endorsement is highlighted on the current menu.

About 11th Street Diner

The original Paramount dining car has been part of the Miami Beach landscape for over 30 years, operating in a neighborhood that takes its Art Deco preservation seriously. The diner has appeared in movies, music videos, and magazines as a South Beach visual shorthand — the classic aluminum diner in the neon district. In 2019, luxury brand Bottega Veneta commandeered the diner during Art Basel Miami Beach and wrapped it in gold, which says something about the cultural weight a well-located 1948 diner car can carry. The menu is extensive by diner standards, covering 24 burger varieties, all-day breakfast, a full bar, and daily specials that push well beyond standard diner territory.

What to Eat at 11th Street Diner

The Apple-Raisin Pork Chops are the DDD signature — Guy’s “one of the best pork dishes ever” is on the menu next to the item description, which is the kind of endorsement that tends to stick. The Argentine Skirt Steak, Oven-Roasted Turkey Dinner, and Mac and Cheese were the other dishes Guy highlighted during filming. The Waffle Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Shrimp Avocado Crostini represent the menu’s range beyond diner basics. The Milkshakes — classic, thick, old-fashioned — are non-negotiable. Breakfast is served all day.

For your own Flavortown pork chop game at home, Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Ultimate Steak Butter Seasoning is built for exactly this preparation.
