Nye’s Polonaise Room on East Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis was a city institution for over half a century, combining a Polish supper club dining room with a legendary piano bar and polka lounge in a Northeast Minneapolis setting that made it one of the most singular dining and entertainment experiences in the upper Midwest. It appeared in Season 13, Episode 12 of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, “Time Tested Treasures,” which aired February 27, 2012. Guy Fieri found pierogi, stuffed cabbage, and the full Polish supper club menu served in a dining room that looked exactly as it did when Eisenhower was president — and a piano bar that earned Nye’s a national reputation as one of America’s great dive bars. The original Polonaise Room closed in 2016.
